Welcome to Hjaltastaðahvammur
Hjaltastaðahvammur is a modern Icelandic horse stud farm dedicated to excellence.
We
pride ourselves in high quality breeding, handling and training of our horses. At
Hjaltastaðahvammur couple of foals are born each year, sired by
Iceland's most prominent stallions. Our policy is to breed our mares
with superior stallions of excellent talent and capacity. We also like
to cover our mares with exciting young stallions of great potential. The stud of
Hjaltastaðahvammur is located in the heart of Skagafjörður in the
Northwestern part of Iceland. Skagafjörður is a fjord situated between
two peninsulas, Tröllaskagi (Peninsula of giants) and Skagi.
Skagafjörður is one of Iceland's most prosperous agricultural regions,
with widespread dairy and sheep farming in addition to the horse
breeding for which the region is famed for. Skagafjörður is often referred as the Mecca of horsemanship in Iceland, and is the only county in Iceland where horses outnumber people in population. At Hjaltastaðahvammur we have a number of interesting horses for sale. If
you are interested in the horses we offer or if you need assistance
regarding finding the horse of your dreams don't hesitate to contact us. Information on horses for sale is on our For sale page.
Hjaltastaðahvammur is just a couple of kilometers from Vindheimamelar where Landsmót will be held in the summer of 2010 form 28th of June until 4th of July.
